Alternatively, a combination cargo-passenger ship (or combi-liner) such as the DALERDYK could complete the 13,000-mile sea voyage between Rotterdam and Vancouver via the Panama Canal – much more comfortably in about 6 weeks.

Primarily a refrigerated freighter, the DALERDYK also accommodated 48 passengers in comfort. Three of her six holds were specially equipped for refrigerated cargo and her passenger sections were air-conditioned; both necessary when traversing the tropical Caribbean.
