MV DELTADRECHT
MV Deltadrecht [transiting through Burrard Inlet]
Tuesday, April 2, 1968
CVA 447-4210.1
Pictured transiting westbound through Burrard Inlet, the 24,700-ton bulk carrier Deltadrecht is destined for China with a cargo of wheat loaded at Vancouver’s Lapointe Pier.
While on a five-year contract to load asbestos concentrate at Deception Bay, QC, van Ommeren's Deltadrecht reportedly sustained a hole in one of her fore tanks following a collision with an ice cake in 1976. At the time, she was operating in heavy seas with waves reaching 30 ft. (9 m) in height.
