SS KINGSBRIDGE
SS Kingsbridge [at anchor]
Wednesday, August 5, 1953
CVA 447-5477
Pictured with a tug coming to assist, the lumber-laden steamship Kingsbridge is anchored “in the stream” on Burrard Inlet in August 1953 before she steamed via the Panama Canal to East Coast ports.
Three summers later, the 7,100-ton Kingsbridge was part of an 11-vessel flotilla sent by Canada on a 13,000-mile trek as part of the East Coast Sealift to support the construction of the Distant Early Warning Line.
